Nighttime Doubleheader: SpaceX Launches Two Falcon 9s from Cape Canaveral in 3½ Hours

SpaceX launched two Falcon 9 rockets in a roughly 3½-hour overnight doubleheader from Cape Canaveral on Nov. 14–15. The Starlink missions were the 97th and 98th orbital launches from Florida’s Space Coast this year, extending the state’s record. SpaceX is targeting a third Falcon 9 for the evening of Nov. 18 (6:29 p.m.–10:29 p.m.), carrying 29 Starlink satellites to low-Earth orbit.

SpaceX lights up Florida's Space Coast with overnight doubleheader

SpaceX launched two Falcon 9 rockets in a roughly 3½-hour span during an overnight doubleheader on Friday, Nov. 14 and early Saturday, Nov. 15, from Cape Canaveral, Florida. Both missions carried Starlink satellites and added to a record year for orbital launches from Florida's Space Coast.

The first Falcon 9 lifted off from NASA's Kennedy Space Center at 10:08 p.m.. The second vehicle departed the adjacent Cape Canaveral Space Force Station at 1:44 a.m. The two flights were recorded as the 97th and 98th orbital launches from the region this year, extending the state's ongoing annual launch record.

Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Space Force Station sit side-by-side on Florida’s Space Coast, enabling SpaceX to operate a rapid cadence by using adjacent pads for consecutive missions. Night launches are a vivid spectacle for residents and visitors along the coast and underscore the area’s role as a hub for commercial and government space activity.

Next launch on the calendar

SpaceX is targeting another Falcon 9 launch on the evening of Tuesday, Nov. 18, which would mark the 99th orbital launch from Florida this year. That launch window at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station is scheduled from 6:29 p.m. to 10:29 p.m. and is set to carry 29 Starlink broadband satellites into low-Earth orbit.

These back-to-back missions highlight both SpaceX’s high flight tempo and the sustained launch activity across Florida’s Eastern Range. They also continue to draw strong local and national attention to the growing commercial space sector operating from the Sunshine State.
