A video shows a Ukrainian soldier recording a refurbished Soviet-era helicopter, fitted with a US M134 minigun, shooting down a Russian Geran reconnaissance drone.
Over the last year, Kyiv has increasingly used helicopters to intercept high-flying drones that ground gunners cannot reach. The M134 can fire up to 6,000 rounds per minute and uses much cheaper 7.62 mm ammunition than interceptor missiles.
These adaptations help Ukraine conserve scarce missiles while countering massed Shahed/Geran drone attacks.
