Loose Horse Forces Temporary M4 Closure Near Theale — Reopened After About an Hour

A loose horse forced the M4 to be closed between junctions 12 (Theale) and 13 (Chieveley Interchange) in Berkshire from about 10:00 GMT. National Highways called the animal a "significant safety risk."

The motorway reopened at about 11:00 after the horse was safely moved away. A photo captured the horse behind a crash barrier with a worker on the opposite side.

A loose horse prompted National Highways to close the M4 between junction 12 (Theale) and junction 13 (Chieveley Interchange) in Berkshire from about 10:00 GMT. The agency described the animal as a "significant safety risk" while crews managed the incident.

Traffic was fully reopened at around 11:00 after the horse was safely moved away from the carriageway. The closure lasted roughly an hour and was lifted once it was judged safe to resume normal traffic flow.
