Space Coast Sets New Annual Launch Record
Monday night’s SpaceX Starlink mission marked Florida’s Space Coast’s 94th orbital launch of the year, eclipsing the previous annual record with more than a month left on the calendar.
“They broke the record and they’ve broken it a month and a half before the end of the year,” said space analyst Dr. Ken Kremer of Space UpClose. “That’s why it’s significant — it’s not going to be just one or two launches. We probably have another nine or ten launches. In fact, we’ve got New Glenn that’s going to launch tomorrow.”
Blue Origin is preparing to fly its second New Glenn rocket as soon as Wednesday afternoon, adding to the crowded slate of missions now lifting off from the Space Coast.
Established and emerging launch providers alike are driving the region’s growing cadence. United Launch Alliance (ULA) is planning as many as 25 Atlas V and Vulcan launches in 2026, underscoring an expanding manifest of commercial, civil and national security missions.
Kremer emphasized the local economic impact of the busy schedule: testing, assembly and launch operations create jobs and require skilled technicians, even when some parts are manufactured elsewhere. Much of that workforce and those activities remain concentrated in Brevard County, contributing to the area’s aerospace economy.
This record-setting pace highlights how Florida’s Space Coast has evolved into a global launch hub, with several more missions expected before year-end.
