President Donald Trump is scheduled to deliver a mystery announcement from the Oval Office at 2 p.m. ET on Monday. The White House schedule shows the event will be open to the White House press pool.
When a reporter asked on Sunday what the "big announcement" would concern, Trump suggested it might be related to a meeting he has planned for Tuesday with Dario Amodei, co‑founder of AI company Anthropic.
"We're meeting with Anthropic, as you know, on Tuesday; that's going to be big. And we have a couple of unrelated things tonight. Tonight I'm having dinner with the head of Anthropic, so these are long days but I seem to be able to handle it… No, I'm having dinner with Dario, as you know, very highly respected, from Anthropic," Trump said.
Amodei co‑founded Anthropic, a company focused on developing artificial intelligence and safety research. Trump's comments prompted speculation that the Oval Office remarks could include AI policy, a private-sector partnership announcement, or another development related to the tech sector, though no specifics were offered on the record.
Newsweek contacted the White House press office by email on Monday outside regular office hours requesting comment.
