Groody described the Borgo Dialogues as a forum dedicated to conversations with "moral clarity, intellectual rigor and practical impact." The dialogues aim to open space for imagining alternatives to a world increasingly governed by technological imperatives and what Pope Francis has called the "technocratic paradigm." Groody highlighted Borgo Laudato Si' as a physical and symbolic setting where people can reconnect with nature, beauty and community.
Concern for the Human Heart
Expressing a deep concern about the cultural effects of technology, Groody warned that people risk reducing too much of human identity to algorithms and data. He urged guardianship of the intangible aspects of human life — "the mystery of love," meaningful connection and communal bonds — that cannot be fully captured or replaced by machines.
"I worry ... that we're reducing too much of what we are to algorithms and technology," Groody said. "We must not lose sight of the mystery of love, of connection and communion."
