One person was killed and two others were wounded by falling shrapnel after Saudi air defenses intercepted a drone over Taif Province on Thursday, the Saudi Civil Defense Directorate said.
Authorities reported that several buildings and vehicles sustained damage when fragments fell across populated areas during the interception operation.
The official statement did not attribute the launch to any group. Yemeni Houthi forces have not claimed responsibility for the incident.
While the Houthi movement in Yemen has previously launched drones and missiles toward Saudi territory, officials have not confirmed the origin of this particular drone. Investigations are ongoing.
