Jealous Texas Woman Allegedly Hurls 25‑Lb Gym Weight at Romantic Rival — Victim Dodges Injury

A 24-year-old woman was arrested after police say she threw a 25-pound weight plate toward another woman's head at a 24 Hour Fitness outside Spring, Texas, on Jan. 7.
What Happened
Authorities identified the suspect as Aralyn Martinez. According to a release from the Harris County Constable Precinct 4 Office and charging documents obtained by KHOU 11, Martinez recognized the complainant as someone her partner was involved with and allegedly shouted a threat before tossing the weight.
"B----, I’m going to drop this 25-pound weight plate on you," the documents quote Martinez as saying.
Cellphone video reviewed by deputies reportedly shows Martinez issuing the threat and then throwing the plate; the targeted woman moved out of the way and avoided serious injury. Bystanders intervened and helped calm the scene before it escalated further, authorities said.
Police Response and Charges
Precinct 4 Capt. Juan Flores told local reporters that incidents involving weights are uncommon but warned that "a 25-pound weight, or any weight, can be a deadly weapon depending on where you hit the person." Martinez left the gym after the confrontation but was later arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail on an aggravated assault charge. Her bond was set at $1,000 and her arraignment was scheduled for Thursday.
In an order setting bond conditions, the judge noted that "facts giving rise to probable cause suggest that alcohol was a factor in this offense," according to Law & Crime. Fox News Digital sought comment from the Harris County Constable Precinct 4 Office.
