Taylor Meyer, 35, was convicted for the Feb. 14, 2025, stabbing death of his wife, Deborah Meyer, who suffered about 40 stab wounds to the chest. According to a probable cause affidavit and local reports, the dispute began after a failed Valentine’s Day plan and an argument when Deborah refused to let Taylor search her phone. During the attack he allegedly called a man he suspected of having an affair and said it was that man's fault, then sent photos of Deborah to family and friends claiming he had killed her. A jury found Taylor guilty after a six-day trial; sentencing is set for Feb. 20.

An Indiana man has been found guilty in the Feb. 14, 2025, killing of his wife after a dispute tied to Valentine's Day plans and his suspicion of an affair, court records and local reporting show.

Case Details

Prosecutors say Taylor Meyer, 35, was arrested days after his wife, Deborah Meyer, 36, was fatally stabbed in their Jeffersonville, Indiana, home on Feb. 14, 2025. According to a probable cause affidavit referenced by local outlets, Taylor admitted to police that he killed Deborah and described becoming enraged after what he said was an elaborate Valentine's Day celebration that she appeared to take for granted.

What Happened That Night

Investigators say Deborah briefly left the home for about 20 minutes that evening. When she returned, the couple argued after she refused to let Taylor search her phone. The affidavit states that the confrontation escalated: Taylor alleged she struck him, and he then choked her and stabbed her repeatedly. Medical and investigative reports say Deborah sustained approximately 40 stab wounds to the chest.

'It's your ... fault. You want to ruin my marriage and tear my family apart,' the affidavit quotes Taylor as saying to a man he suspected of being Deborah's lover during the attack.

After the Attack

Prosecutors say Taylor photographed Deborah lying unconscious on the floor and sent the images to a family group chat while claiming he had killed her. They also allege he shared the photos and messages with her friends. Taylor initially pleaded not guilty, but a jury convicted him on Jan. 29 after a six-day trial and roughly two hours of deliberation. His sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 20.
