Three Young Siblings Killed in Kenosha Apartment Fire on Thanksgiving Night

On the night of Thursday, Nov. 27, a fire tore through a multi-family apartment unit on 43rd Avenue in Kenosha, Wisconsin, killing three young siblings and sending their father to hospital with smoke inhalation.

At approximately 10:39 p.m., Kenosha firefighters and police responded to reports of a structure fire. First responders encountered heavy smoke and flames. Two boys, ages 10 and 9, were pronounced dead at the scene. A 7-year-old girl was airlifted to a hospital but later died from her injuries. The children have been identified as Connor, Rylee and Alena Kannin.

“I instantly smelled it, and then you could see the smoke in the air. It was very thick, and it was bad,” neighbor Latoya Cook said.

The children’s father remains hospitalized for treatment of smoke inhalation. Surveillance footage shared publicly shows residents fleeing as smoke filled the building, and neighbors described the scene as chaotic and frightening.

A GoFundMe created for the family remembers Connor, Rylee and Alena as cherished children and calls the tragedy “a parent’s worst nightmare.” The fundraiser had raised nearly $11,000 toward a $16,000 goal to help cover funeral costs and immediate family needs.

The Kenosha Police Department is actively investigating the fire to determine its origin and cause. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Marty Howard at 262-605-5284 or Crime Stoppers at 262-656-7333.
