New Leads in Disappearance of Ann Evans, U.S. Passenger Missing from Holland America Cruise

Authorities investigating the disappearance of 55-year-old Ann Evans say a woman matching her description reportedly checked into a hotel on the French side of Saint Martin using her passport. Evans left a Holland America cruise ship on Nov. 20 to join an organized tour and is believed to have disembarked in Marigot but never returned. Sint Maarten police are working with French authorities to verify the sightings and are urging anyone with information—or Evans herself—to make contact.

New Leads in Disappearance of Ann Evans, U.S. Passenger Missing from Holland America Cruise

New details have emerged in the investigation into Ann Evans, a 55-year-old American passenger who was reported missing after leaving a Holland America cruise ship while it was docked in Philipsburg, Sint Maarten on Nov. 20.

According to reports from the Police Force of Sint Maarten (KPSM), Evans disembarked the ship at about 10:00 a.m. local time to join an organized island tour. Investigators believe she left the tour bus in Marigot on the French side of Saint Martin and did not reboard the bus or return to the vessel later that day.

KPSM said on Nov. 27 that it had "carried out extensive checks and followed multiple lines of information in accordance with legal guidelines." Based on the information gathered, authorities "have reason to believe that a female matching Ms. Evans' description checked into a hotel on the French side of the island using her passport," and that the woman was reportedly seen in the area surrounding that establishment.

The Sint Maarten police added they are coordinating with their French counterparts to verify those leads. A Holland America spokesperson confirmed the police message and said the cruise line is awaiting further confirmation from authorities.

The ship departed from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, earlier in the voyage and made scheduled stops in the Bahamas, St. Lucia, Tobago, Barbados and Puerto Rico before its planned return on Nov. 28.

In a missing-person alert posted on Nov. 26, KPSM asked that if Ms. Evans sees the message she contact her family, the Police Force of Sint Maarten, or the French Gendarmerie immediately to confirm her safety. Authorities also urged anyone with information about her whereabouts to come forward.

If you were on the Holland America voyage, visited Saint Martin on Nov. 20, or have any information about a woman matching Ms. Evans' description, please contact the Police Force of Sint Maarten or the French Gendarmerie. Timely tips could be vital to confirming her safety.
