Arrest Warrant Issued for Miss Universe Co‑Owner Jakkaphong Jakrajutatip After Missed Fraud Hearing

Bangkok’s South District Court issued an arrest warrant for Jakkaphong “Anne” Jakrajutatip—co‑owner of the Miss Universe Organization—after she missed a fraud hearing and was deemed a flight risk. The case stems from a 2023 lawsuit alleging JKN Global sold corporate bonds that cost one investor 30 million baht (~$930,362). JKN has been in default since 2023 and entered debt rehabilitation in 2024, reporting roughly 3 billion baht in liabilities. The next hearing is scheduled for Dec. 26, and Jakkaphong’s current whereabouts are unknown.

Arrest Warrant Issued for Miss Universe Co‑Owner Jakkaphong Jakrajutatip After Missed Fraud Hearing

A Bangkok court has issued an arrest warrant for Jakkaphong “Anne” Jakrajutatip, a co‑owner of the Miss Universe Organization, after she failed to appear at a scheduled fraud hearing and was deemed a flight risk.

The Bangkok South District Court said Jakkaphong was charged with fraud in 2023 and released on bail, but did not notify the court of her absence at the recent hearing. The court has rescheduled the next hearing for Dec. 26.

According to the complaint, Jakkaphong and her company, JKN Global Group Public Co. Ltd., were sued by investor Raweewat Maschamadol over the sale of corporate bonds in 2023. Raweewat alleges the investment cost him 30 million baht (about $930,362).

JKN has experienced financial difficulties: the company defaulted on payments to investors beginning in 2023 and entered debt rehabilitation procedures at the Central Bankruptcy Court in 2024. JKN reports liabilities of roughly 3 billion baht (about $93 million).

JKN acquired the Miss Universe rights from IMG Worldwide in 2022 and sold a 50% stake in its Miss Universe holdings in 2023 to Legacy Holding Group USA, owned by Mexican businessman Raúl Rocha Cantú.

Jakkaphong stepped down from all executive roles at JKN in June after Thailand’s Securities and Exchange Commission accused her of falsifying the company’s 2023 financial statements. She remains the company’s largest shareholder.

Her current whereabouts are unknown. She did not attend the 74th Miss Universe pageant, held in Bangkok earlier this month.

Pageant controversies and company response

The Miss Universe event was overshadowed by controversies, including a public rebuke of the newly crowned winner, Fátima Bosch Fernández of Mexico, reports that two judges withdrew—one alleging possible rigging—and a police inquiry into allegations that event publicity included illegal promotion of online casinos.

JKN has denied social‑media claims that Jakkaphong liquidated company assets and fled the country. There has been no immediate public response from Jakkaphong regarding the arrest warrant.

Background: Jakkaphong is a high‑profile Thai public figure who has appeared on reality television and is known for speaking openly about her identity as a transgender woman.
