Georgia Mother Arrested After Investigators Link 2021 and 2025 Infant Deaths

Dakota Nicole Taylor, 21, of Wrens, Georgia, was arrested on Nov. 20 and charged in connection with the deaths of two infant sons — one in Sept. 2021 and another on Jan. 8, 2025. Prosecutors allege Micah Allen Taylor’s airway was obstructed in 2021 and that Caleb was suffocated in 2025. Body-camera footage from 2021 and evidence developed during the 2025 investigation prompted the renewed probe. The case is ongoing and Taylor is being held without bond.

Georgia Mother Arrested After Investigators Link 2021 and 2025 Infant Deaths

A 21-year-old Georgia woman, Dakota Nicole Taylor of Wrens, was arrested on Nov. 20 and faces multiple homicide and child cruelty charges after authorities say investigators linked the deaths of two of her infant sons three years apart.

Allegations and charges

State investigators allege Taylor is responsible for the deaths of her sons Micah Allen Taylor, who died in September 2021 at about 7 months old, and Caleb Taylor, who died on Jan. 8, 2025 at about 8 months old. Taylor was arrested and charged with two counts each of malice murder, felony murder and first-degree cruelty to children.

According to court documents, Micah’s death in 2021 had initially been ruled undetermined. Investigators say evidence developed during the 2025 inquiry into Caleb’s death led them to reexamine the earlier case; authorities allege Micah’s airways were obstructed and that Caleb was deprived of oxygen and suffocated.

Scene details and body-camera footage

Court records describe body-worn camera footage from the night Micah died, showing officers arriving at a group home where Taylor and the infant were staying. After a bath, Micah was reportedly placed in a swing and later found “slumped over and pale.” Officers on scene told investigators they observed Taylor respond to the situation in a manner they described as unusually indifferent.

“I don’t know if this has anything to do with anything, but the mother… she was very… like ‘alright, whatever,’” one officer told investigators, according to the arrest warrant. Another officer described her as appearing “nonchalant.”

Custody and investigation status

At the time of her arrest, Taylor was being held at the McDuffie County Jail on other charges related to the 2021 investigation. She is now in the Jefferson County jail and has been denied bond, according to court records. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
