Bomb Threat at Sen. Elissa Slotkin’s Home After She Urged Military to ‘Refuse Illegal Orders’

Michigan State Police investigated a bomb threat at Sen. Elissa Slotkin’s home after she and other Democrats posted a video urging military and intelligence personnel to "refuse illegal orders." Slotkin was not at home and police said no one was in danger. The threat follows President Trump’s public condemnation of the lawmakers and his resharing of violent posts. Slotkin says she now has Capitol Police protection 24/7 and officials are investigating.

Bomb Threat at Sen. Elissa Slotkin’s Home After She Urged Military to ‘Refuse Illegal Orders’

Michigan State Police responded to a bomb threat at the home of Sen. Elissa Slotkin (D-Mich.), her office said on Friday. A spokesperson said Slotkin was not home when the threat was reported and that investigators searched the property and confirmed no one was in danger.

The threat followed a video posted earlier this week by Slotkin — a former CIA analyst — and several other Democratic lawmakers, some of them military veterans, urging personnel in the military and intelligence communities to "refuse illegal orders."

President Donald Trump publicly criticized the lawmakers after the video, accusing them of "seditious behavior" and saying it was "punishable by death." He also reshared violent posts on Truth Social that called for violence against the lawmakers.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said the president did not want members of Congress executed and defended his remarks by accusing the lawmakers of "encouraging" service members and national security personnel to defy "the president’s lawful orders."

Slotkin on X: "This is the law. Passed down from our Founding Fathers, to ensure our military upholds its oath to the Constitution — not a king."

Slotkin told reporters she has received additional protection from law enforcement, saying, "Capitol Police is now with me 24/7." In a separate interview she warned that inflammatory rhetoric from leaders can encourage violent behavior at the local level.

The incident comes amid other politically charged intimidation, including a recent swatting attack on Indiana state Sen. Greg Goode that occurred shortly after public criticism from the president over redistricting decisions.

Authorities and Slotkin’s office have not released further details about the bomb threat as investigations continue.
