Ted Cruz: Tucker Carlson Is on a 'Very Dark Path' From Antisemitism Toward Anti‑Americanism

At a SiriusXM town‑hall, Sen. Ted Cruz warned that antisemitism is rising across American politics and said he has seen a surge on the right in recent months. He sharply criticized Tucker Carlson for platforming extremists — saying Carlson is 'going down a very dark path' — and argued that antisemitism can lead to anti‑capitalist and anti‑American views. Cruz urged Republicans to reject bigotry and stated that white supremacists and Nazis have no place in the party.

Stephen A. Smith hosted a live SiriusXM town‑hall with Sen. Ted Cruz (R‑Texas) on Wednesday evening to discuss a range of topics, including Cruz's presidential ambitions, a recent rise in antisemitism, and his ongoing criticisms of former Fox host Tucker Carlson.

Cruz said Carlson's decision to give airtime to extremist voices — most notably an interview with white supremacist Nick Fuentes — has intensified a broader debate inside conservatism over whether to tolerate or reject open bigotry. Cruz argued that Carlson's recent rhetoric is dangerous and has pushed him down a troubling path.

'Listen, Stephen, you and I are on exactly the same page on this. I look at the question of antisemitism. I think 10 years ago in the Democratic Party you started to see antisemitism rise and a lot of leaders looked the other way. And it's also happening on the Republican side,' Cruz said.

'In the last six months I've seen more antisemitism on the right than any time in my life. And it is wrong. I'm going to do everything I can to stop it. I think Tucker is dangerous. I think what he's saying is wrong, and I'm calling him out over and over and over again. When you have goose‑stepping Nazis on your program, when you have a professor who says, gosh, I think Winston Churchill is the villain of World War II, when you have another professor who says there's a good argument America should have supported the Nazis in World War II — no, there's not, and that's garbage. Tucker's gone down a very dark path.'

Cruz warned that if both major parties were to tolerate antisemitism and hostility toward Israel, the United States would be in a grim place. He also argued that antisemitism often dovetails with broader anti‑capitalist and anti‑American currents, citing a figure he named 'Mamdani' as an example and describing that person as both Islamist and socialist — a characterization Cruz used to illustrate how extremist ideas can cross ideological lines.

Concluding the exchange, Cruz urged fellow Republicans to reject bigotry. 'If you are a bigot, if you are a Klansman, if you are a Nazi, you've got no business in the Republican Party, and we don't want you,' he said, adding that such people should not be welcomed in either major party because the country was built on equal rights for everyone.
