Fox News Poll: Trump's Economic Approval Falls to Record Low of 38%

The Fox News poll of 1,005 registered voters (Nov. 14–17) finds President Trump's overall approval at 41% and his economic approval at a record-low 38%, matching April's low. Trump is underwater on five of six measured issues, though he scores 53% approval on border security. A plurality (46%) say his economic policies have hurt them, and 62% assign him more responsibility for current economic conditions than Joe Biden.

A new Fox News poll conducted Nov. 14–17 of 1,005 registered voters finds President Donald Trump's approval rating at its lowest point since October 2017. The survey reports just 38% approve of the way he is handling the economy — a record low that matches the low recorded in April.

Key findings

Overall approval: 41% approve of Trump's performance as president, a five-point drop since September. Trump is underwater on five of the six issues measured in the poll.

Economy: Only 38% approve of his handling of the economy. A plurality — 46% — say his economic policies have personally hurt them; 15% say they have helped, and 39% say they made no difference.

Costs and inflation: Voters overwhelmingly report price increases over the past year: 85% say grocery prices are higher and 78% say utilities cost more. Sixty percent say grocery costs have risen “a lot.”

Responsibility for the economy: When asked who is more responsible for current economic conditions, 62% pointed to Trump while 32% blamed former President Joe Biden.

Other issue ratings

Trump posts a 53% approval rating on border security, yet the poll also finds 53% of respondents disapprove of his handling of immigration overall. Several other issues measured in the survey also show negative ratings.

Methodology: The poll surveyed 1,005 registered voters from Nov. 14 to Nov. 17.

The results paint a picture of eroding support on economic matters and widespread concern among voters about rising costs, even as the president retains partisan strength on specific issues like border security.
