Raskin Booed After Urging Democrats to Welcome Marjorie Taylor Greene Amid Feud with Trump

At a Democratic fundraiser, Rep. Jamie Raskin was booed after urging Democrats to keep the door open to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene amid her dispute with former President Donald Trump. Greene has clashed with Trump over a bipartisan effort to release Jeffrey Epstein-related records; the House Oversight Committee published about 20,000 documents this week. Greene told Trump the victims deserve justice and insists she remains “full MAGA,” while her daughter publicly rejected suggestions her mother would switch parties.

Rep. Jamie Raskin drew audible boos at a Democratic fundraiser after urging his party to keep the door open to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene amid her public falling-out with former President Donald Trump.

“We are a big tent; we must be a huge, vast tent,” Raskin said. “I say this is a party that’s got room for Marjorie Taylor Greene if she wants to come over.”

Audience members reacted with boos as the Maryland congressman added that the party should have room for anyone who will stand up for the Constitution and for the Bill of Rights.

Greene, a Georgia Republican and long-time Trump ally, has recently split with the former president over her role in a bipartisan push to press the Justice Department to release investigative records related to Jeffrey Epstein. This week, the House Oversight Committee released roughly 20,000 documents tied to Epstein, the disgraced financier who died in prison in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex‑trafficking charges.

After the release, Greene — who has repeatedly called for greater transparency on Epstein-related files — sent Trump a text arguing that “them being raped as teenagers is not a hoax,” and saying victims deserve justice. Trump responded on social media by calling her a “ranting lunatic” and announced he would withdraw his endorsement.

Despite losing Trump’s backing and Raskin’s outreach, Greene has insisted she remains “full MAGA.” Earlier this month she appeared on The View and considerably toned down her usual rhetoric, prompting speculation she might be trying to broaden her appeal beyond her heavily Republican district; she firmly denied plans to switch parties.

Her daughter, Lauren Greene Sanders, defended her on Instagram: “Let me be clear — Marjorie Taylor Greene is not becoming a Democrat. Never has been. Never will be,” and accused critics of being “fake MAGA.”

This incident underscores ongoing tensions inside the Republican coalition and the occasional willingness of some Democrats to publicly invite political reconciliation—an overture that in this case drew a sharp negative response from the Democratic audience.
