Suspect Arrested After Bat-Wielding Attack on Alina Habba’s New Jersey Office

Former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi announced that a suspect accused of targeting and vandalizing the New Jersey office of U.S. attorney Alina Habba has been taken into custody.

"No one will get away with threatening or intimidating our great U.S. Attorneys or the destruction of their offices," Bondi wrote on X after revealing the incident. She described video of the event as "chilling" and told Fox News host Sean Hannity that the person in custody will be sent to prison "for as long as we can send him."

According to reports, a man first showed up at Habba’s office carrying a baseball bat. After security refused him entry, he left the building but soon returned without the bat. The suspect was reportedly admitted to the building, proceeded to Habba’s suite and damaged office property.

Bondi said in the Hannity interview that the suspect paced outside Habba’s office "like a caged animal" and then "tore apart" the front office. Federal and local authorities said they were investigating the incident and detained a suspect in connection with the vandalism.

Alina Habba, a former personal lawyer and legal spokesperson for former President Donald Trump, is serving as the acting U.S. attorney in New Jersey while her appointment faces legal challenges. After the attack was first reported, Habba posted on X: "We will not be intimidated by radical lunatics." Later she celebrated the arrest, writing, "We got him."

Bondi emphasized that law enforcement is locating and charging those who commit threats or violence against public officials and their offices: "We are finding these people, we are arresting them, and we are charging them. They will go to prison for as long as we can send them," she said.

Authorities have not publicly released the suspect’s identity or formal charges. The investigation is ongoing and federal officials said they are working with local partners to determine the full facts of the incident.
