Video Captures Arson Attacks by Settlers in Northern West Bank

Date: Nov. 12 — New video footage shows scores of Israeli settlers carrying out coordinated arson attacks on several Palestinian-owned properties in the occupied West Bank.

On Tuesday, roughly 10 vehicles, a warehouse, a plastics factory, farmland and a Bedouin village in the northern West Bank were targeted in what local sources described as a series of coordinated attacks by illegal settlers from Israel. Footage from an industrial zone near the western village of Beit Lid shows tents burning, masked individuals carrying clubs, women screaming and vehicles set ablaze.

Multiple Palestinians were reported injured after being struck by thrown stones or beaten. Israeli police said four suspects have been arrested in connection with the incidents.

Palestinian Authority Minister Muayyad Shaaban, head of the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, told the BBC the assaults appear to be part of a campaign to impose a "hostile environment through intimidation and terror."

Israeli President Isaac Herzog: "Such violence against civilians and against IDF soldiers crosses a red line and I condemn it severely."

The United Nations' humanitarian office (OCHA) said the number of violent attacks by Israeli settlers in the last month reached its highest level in nearly 20 years, noting a worrying spike in settler-related violence.

The Israeli military said troops were present to "disperse the confrontation using riot dispersal means" and that soldiers were attacked after intervening. The IDF reported that several Israeli civilians were apprehended. Major General Avi Bluth, head of the IDF Central Command, warned the assaults undermine "the stability of the security situation" and called for firm action against those responsible.

Context: More than 500,000 Israeli settlers live in the West Bank, within a total population of about 4 million. The incidents add to mounting international concern about escalating settler violence and its impact on civilians and on broader security in the occupied territories.

What remains unclear

Investigations are ongoing. Authorities on both sides reported arrests and issued condemnations, but local witnesses and Palestinian officials say the attacks are part of a broader pattern of intimidation. Independent verification of all details is continuing.
