UT Permian Basin has received a $250,000 gift from Landgraf, Crutcher & Associates to support its new civil engineering program launched this fall. The university will name the civil engineering classroom for John Landgraf and Drew Crutcher in recognition of their decades of service. University leaders say the donation will expand student resources, strengthen ties with local industry, and help prepare engineers to meet the Permian Basin’s workforce and infrastructure needs. The program is based in UTPB’s three-story, 105,801-square-foot Engineering Building, a $55 million facility opened in October 2019.

The University of Texas Permian Basin has received a $250,000 gift from Landgraf, Crutcher & Associates to support its newly launched civil engineering program, which began this fall. The donation will fund resources, equipment, and experiential learning opportunities for students preparing careers in civil engineering.

In recognition of the firm’s long-standing service to the region, UTPB will name the new civil engineering classroom for John Landgraf and Drew Crutcher, university officials said in a news release.

“Landgraf, Crutcher & Associates’ gift to the new UT Permian Basin Civil Engineering program will make a positive impact on our entire region for years to come,” said Jacqui Gore, UTPB Vice President of External Relations. “They are investing in our future Permian Basin civil engineers who will plan our highways, neighborhoods, and retail spaces.”

“This generous support from Landgraf, Crutcher & Associates highlights how important collaboration is between our University and local industry,” said UTPB President Dr. Sandra Woodley. “Together, we’re preparing the next generation of engineers who will shape the future of the Permian Basin.”

The civil engineering program is part of the College of Engineering and Sciences and is housed in UTPB’s Engineering Building, a three-story, 105,801-square-foot facility that opened in October 2019. Developed as a $55 million investment in West Texas, the building features modern classrooms and laboratories designed for hands-on instruction, collaboration, and applied research.

UTPB leaders say the program and this philanthropic support aim to strengthen the local talent pipeline and address the region’s workforce and infrastructure needs. For more information about UTPB’s engineering programs, visit utpb.edu/engineering.
