SpaceX plans Falcon 9 launch from Vandenberg on Nov. 6

SpaceX is targeting Thursday, Nov. 6, for the liftoff of a Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Space Force Base in Santa Barbara County. A four-hour launch window opens at 12:56 p.m. PT, and a Federal Aviation Administration operations-plan advisory lists a backup opportunity the following day if the mission is postponed.

The two-stage, 230-foot (about 70-meter) Falcon 9 will carry 28 Starlink internet satellites into low-Earth orbit, where the constellation’s satellites quickly circle the planet to provide broadband service. The mission continues SpaceX’s regular cadence of Starlink deliveries from both California and Florida.

How to watch

If you prefer to view the launch from home, SpaceX will stream the mission live on its website and on the X TV mobile app. The webcast typically begins roughly five minutes before liftoff. SpaceX may also provide live updates on the social platform X.

Where to see it in Southern California

Southern California offers many popular viewing spots. Spectators near Vandenberg can see the rocket at liftoff, while viewers farther afield may catch the vehicle as it climbs and passes overhead. For safe viewing, follow local guidance, avoid restricted areas near the base, and check real‑time notices from Vandenberg and local authorities before heading out.

About SpaceX and Starlink

Founded by Elon Musk in 2002, SpaceX is headquartered at its Starbase campus in South Texas, where the company conducts routine flight testing of the 400-foot Starship megarocket. SpaceX conducts many launches from both California and Florida, supporting Starlink deployments, commercial missions, and government contracts. The company also provides launch services under contracts with NASA and the Department of Defense.

Starlink is SpaceX’s satellite internet service. The constellation has grown to more than 8,700 satellites and provides broadband service around the world. SpaceX has spent several years steadily launching these satellites to expand global coverage.

When to check for updates

Expect the live webcast to begin minutes before liftoff. For the most current information on timing, delays, or range safety notices, check SpaceX’s official channels and the FAA advisory on the day of the launch.
