G.L. Mezzetta Inc. has recalled a single lot of its 32‑ounce Mezzetta Golden Greek Peperoncini Medium Heat after a TikTok video on September 16 showed an alleged mouse in a jar. The recall covers SKU 10106328, Lot 720106. Mezzetta says it has contacted the consumer, requested the original jar for inspection and opened an internal investigation. No illnesses have been reported; consumers with the affected jars are advised not to eat the product and to contact Mezzetta.

California‑based food supplier G.L. Mezzetta Inc. has issued a voluntary recall of a single production lot of its 32‑ounce Mezzetta Golden Greek Peperoncini Medium Heat after a consumer posted a viral video alleging she found a mouse in a jar.

Company Response

"For generations, families have trusted Mezzetta products on their tables. We take that trust seriously, which is why we want to share what we know," the company said in a statement posted on its website.

Mezzetta acknowledged the social media footage and said it contacted the consumer, promptly opened an investigation and initiated a voluntary recall for the specific lot. The company said it has requested the original jar for laboratory review and is examining production, sanitation and food‑safety records as part of the inquiry.

What the Consumer Posted

In a series of TikTok clips shared on September 16, the consumer showed a 32‑ounce jar that she said contained a "dead baby mouse." The videos, which were viewed by several news outlets, show a small gray object floating among the peppers; the company has not independently confirmed the nature of the object in public statements.
