If you plan to bake pumpkin-spiced treats this season, check your spice rack: Galil Importing Corp. of Hauppauge, N.Y., has recalled a ground cinnamon product after testing detected elevated lead levels, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reports.

Where and When It Was Sold
The product was distributed to retail stores, grocery stores, delis, and supermarkets in Texas, Florida, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Illinois between November 18, 2025 and September 7, 2026.
Why It Was Recalled
The Maryland Department of Health collected and analyzed a sample that revealed elevated levels of lead. As a precaution, Galil Importing Corp. initiated a supplier investigation and has implemented enhanced testing and supplier verification procedures. The FDA notes that very low lead exposures may not produce noticeable symptoms, and no illnesses have been linked to this product to date.
What Consumers Should Do
- If you have a 90g container with Lot GAP11304 or the UPS code 794711005484, do not use the product.
- Dispose of it safely or return it to the place of purchase for a refund.
