Mezzetta said it became aware of a social media video, posted on Sept. 16, that appears to show a possible pest contaminant in a 32-ounce jar of Mezzetta GOLDEN GREEK PEPERONCINI (Medium Heat). In the video, a woman says she discovered what she described as a "dead baby mouse" inside the jar while preparing a meal.
Company Response
Mezzetta notified the FDA and issued a voluntary recall for the affected 32-ounce GOLDEN GREEK PEPERONCINI, labeled Medium Heat. The company says it has contacted the consumer who posted the video, requested the original jar for examination, and launched an internal investigation.

Mezzetta stated it has identified customers and retailers who received the recalled product and is working to isolate and remove affected jars from sale. The company also said it has not received any reports of illness or injury related to the product to date.
