The Fayetteville Police Department arrested 27-year-old Jayden Domontez Boone after a Sept. 27 home robbery in the 2000 block of Osceola Drive. Boone faces multiple charges, including robbery with a deadly weapon, possession of stolen goods and impersonating law enforcement; investigators say additional charges may follow.
Fayetteville Man Arrested After Using Stolen Police Gear to Rob Home

Fayetteville police say a 27-year-old man was arrested after allegedly impersonating an officer and robbing a home while wearing authentic Fayetteville Police Department equipment that had been stolen from an officer's residence.
What Happened
Officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of Osceola Drive at about 3:33 a.m. on Sept. 27 following a report that someone impersonating a Fayetteville Police officer had knocked on a door, entered the home and taken money. No injuries were reported.
Responding officers located a nearby suspect, identified as Jayden Domontez Boone, 27, and took him into custody. Detectives later determined the clothing and gear Boone wore during the incident were items issued by the Fayetteville Police Department.
Stolen Department Equipment
Investigators say the equipment had been taken from the home of a Fayetteville officer who was on vacation and had not yet returned. Fayetteville Police said the stolen items were recovered, but the department did not provide a full inventory of the recovered equipment or say when or how the items were taken from the officer's residence.
Charges And Records
Boone was initially charged with robbery with a deadly weapon, possession of stolen goods and impersonating a law enforcement officer, and police noted there were unrelated warrants. Records from the Cumberland County Detention Center reviewed by local outlet Guessing Headlights show Boone was booked Sept. 27 and list a felony count for robbery with a firearm or other weapon, felony and misdemeanor possession of stolen property counts, two misdemeanor larceny counts, an impersonation charge and a misdemeanor conspiracy charge.
The detention records show $0 bond amounts for the robbery count, the possession entries, the impersonation entry and the conspiracy entry; each larceny count lists a $5,000 bond. The records display $10,000 tied to the two larceny counts but do not provide enough detail to treat $10,000 as Boone's total bond or to fully explain the custody implications of the $0 entries.
Investigation Ongoing
Fayetteville Police said additional charges may be filed as detectives continue their investigation. The department's announcement did not indicate whether Boone is suspected of personally stealing the department-issued gear from the officer's home.
Bottom line: What began as a report of an impersonation quickly became more serious when detectives confirmed the suspect wore actual department-issued equipment during the robbery.
