A jet-powered drone struck Ukrainian territory on Monday, roughly two kilometres from the Dorohusk border crossing with Poland, damaging a Ukrainian border checkpoint but causing no reported casualties, Polish and Ukrainian officials said.
Polish Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz wrote on X that “a jet-powered drone struck on the Ukrainian side, about two kilometres from the border crossing with Poland at Dorohusk.” He added that Polish airspace had not been violated.
Roman Romaniuk, head of the Volyn regional administration, said the blast wave from the explosion damaged the checkpoint building on the Ukrainian side. “There have been no reports of injuries or deaths,” Romaniuk wrote on Telegram.
The Polish armed forces command said an air-raid alert was triggered in the Lublin region of south-eastern Poland during Russian airstrikes on western Ukraine; the alert was lifted after around 15 minutes.
Officials noted several drone attacks on Ukrainian territory near the Dorohusk–Yahodyn border crossing over the past two weeks. Local reports also say a passenger train on the Kyiv–Warsaw route was struck in the area.
The Polish government has accused Russia of escalating the war against Ukraine. Analysts warn that strikes close to international borders risk raising tensions and increasing the potential for broader regional instability.
