An Oregon man already accused in the deaths of five Portland-area women has been indicted in connection with a sixth presumed death, prosecutors announced.

Indictment Details: On Sept. 15 a Multnomah County grand jury returned a first-degree manslaughter indictment against Jesse Calhoun, which prosecutors announced publicly on Sept. 16. The charge alleges he unlawfully and recklessly caused a death under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to human life.

Alleged Sixth Victim
The alleged sixth victim has been identified as Elizabeth 'Libby' Gibson. Investigators have not recovered Gibson's body, but they believe she died on or about Nov. 18, 2022. The investigation into her disappearance and presumed death remains active.

Other Victims And Case Background
Calhoun is already facing indictments tied to the deaths of five other women whom authorities say died between late 2022 and mid-2023. Those women include Ashley Real (22), Charity Lynn Perry (24), Bridget Leanne Webster (31), Joanna Speaks (32) and Kristin Smith. The five previously discovered bodies were found in rural, wooded locations across northwest Oregon and southwest Washington.

Family Statements
Gibson's family released a statement thanking investigators and asking for privacy as they grieve. "Libby was kind, creative, and silly. She welcomed everyone with love and acceptance. Her future was tragically taken from her way too soon," the family said.
Legal And Background Details
Before the discoveries tied to these deaths, Calhoun pleaded guilty to multiple charges stemming from a 2019 incident in which he choked a police dog; he was sentenced on counts including burglary and assaulting a public safety officer. In 2021, then-Governor Kate Brown commuted his sentence after he volunteered to assist firefighters during the 2020 wildfire season. Public records show Calhoun has been in custody in connection with the earlier cases since June 2024.
Prosecutors say Calhoun is scheduled to be arraigned on the new manslaughter charge on Sept. 21. Multnomah County District Attorney Nathan Vasquez vowed to continue the investigation and to seek accountability for each victim. Senior Deputy District Attorney Melissa Marrero described the probe as large in scope and encouraged anyone with information — however small — to come forward.
