The Saudi-flagged tanker NCC Masa was reportedly attacked while transiting the Red Sea, state news agency SPA said, citing sources at the Saudi Ministry of Transport. According to the report, the vessel's hull sustained only minor damage and there were no injuries to the crew.
After authorities confirmed the safety of the ship and its crew, the NCC Masa resumed its voyage to its destination port, SPA added.
Just last Thursday, US President Donald Trump issued a public warning to the Houthi movement and to Iran against further strikes on commercial shipping. Writing on his platform Truth Social, Trump said:
'If they do this again, the USA will hold Iran accountable, as the Houthis act as Iran's proxies,' Trump wrote. He warned of 'severe military penalties' against Iran and, he said, against the Houthis themselves.
Officials have not publicly attributed the attack to a specific group. The incident arrives amid heightened tensions in the region over previous attacks on vessels transiting the Red Sea and nearby waters.
