A violent home invasion roughly 30 miles from Nancy Guthrie’s Tucson residence has left local residents unsettled. The Pima County Sheriff's Office says the attack occurred in the early hours of July 21 at about 2:40 a.m. and is being investigated by the same county agency involved in Guthrie’s ongoing disappearance case.
What Happened: According to the sheriff’s office, an unknown male entered the home through an unlocked door. The male suspect physically and sexually assaulted the female resident and, before fleeing, attempted to burglarize the property.
Suspect Description
Officials described the suspect as either Hispanic or white, approximately 5'10" with a thin build. He reportedly had gray in his beard and was last seen wearing an oversized shirt.
Investigation Status
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told Fox News Digital that there is no current evidence linking this July 21 incident to Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance. No arrests have been made in the recent home invasion, and Guthrie’s alleged abductor remains at large; Nancy Guthrie has been missing since January 31.
Investigators previously released doorbell-camera footage from Guthrie’s home before the device was disabled. The unidentified person in that footage was estimated to be about 5'9" to 5'10" tall — a detail authorities continue to evaluate alongside other leads.

FBI Involvement
The Pima County Sheriff's Office is working with the FBI on the Guthrie case. In June, the FBI’s Phoenix office confirmed it had received several ransom notes during the investigation. Some were judged to be illegitimate extortion attempts, while others remain under review. The FBI says the matter continues to be investigated as a kidnapping-for-ransom case and that it will continue to assist local authorities, who remain the lead agency.
