BRUSSELS, June 15 — The European Commission announced on Monday that the EU has expanded its emergency cybersecurity assistance package and made it available to Ukraine.
Under the measure, Ukrainian authorities can now activate incident-response teams and services from vetted private cybersecurity providers to help manage significant or large-scale cyber incidents. The support is intended to bolster Ukraine's ability to respond rapidly to attacks that threaten critical infrastructure, government networks or large volumes of data.
Scope And Context
The mechanism allows trusted private firms to be deployed quickly alongside public resources to investigate, contain and remediate major cyber incidents. The Commission framed the move as part of the EU's broader effort to strengthen resilience among partner countries facing heightened cyber threats.
Moldova was incorporated into the same support system earlier in 2024, the Commission said.
