BEIJING, March 24 (Reuters) - China said on Tuesday it has lodged solemn representations with Japanese authorities after what the Chinese foreign ministry described as a "forceful break-in" at its embassy in Tokyo.

Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian told a regular press briefing that a man who claimed to be an active-duty member of the Japan Self-Defense Forces scaled the embassy wall and forcibly entered the Chinese Embassy in Tokyo on Tuesday morning. According to Lin, the individual admitted his actions were illegal and threatened to kill Chinese diplomatic personnel "in the so-called name of God."
Lin urged Japanese authorities to carry out a thorough investigation into the incident and said Beijing had lodged "solemn representations" with Tokyo.
