Pastor John Tittle of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church led congregants in prayer for Nancy Guthrie and asked the community to respect the family’s request for privacy amid an ongoing search. Guthrie, 84 and the mother of NBC’s Savannah Guthrie, was reported missing from her Tucson-area home; Pima County officials say DNA from blood on her porch matched her. Authorities are reviewing multiple tips and alleged ransom communications and have expressed concern because Guthrie needs daily medication and has a pacemaker.
St. Andrew’s Pastor Urges Prayer as Search Continues for Missing Nancy Guthrie

Pastor John Tittle of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church led his congregation in prayer on Sunday, asking members to continue praying for the safe return of Nancy Guthrie and to respect the family’s request for privacy during what he described as a “horrific ordeal.”
Tittle told worshippers the church would "pray and stand with Nancy Guthrie and her family," and invited attendees to join him in a public prayer for Guthrie’s recovery and for those searching on her behalf.
"We pray for Nancy's rescue and her release. Bring her home safely," Tittle said. "Lord God, bless and guide the authorities in their search for Nancy. Give them wisdom along every step of the path to her."
He concluded: "Lord, we ask that you would soften the hearts of those who are responsible, that they might come forward and do what is humane and what is right," and closed the prayer in the name of Jesus.
Case Update
Nancy Guthrie, 84 — the mother of NBC "Today" show co-anchor Savannah Guthrie — was reported missing last week from her home outside Tucson, Arizona. Pima County officials say they believe she was taken from the residence. Sheriff Chris Nanos has said DNA testing showed blood found on Guthrie’s front porch matched her.
Savannah Guthrie and her siblings released a short social media message over the weekend saying the family had received a communication and that paying would be the only way they would have peace. The family referenced material sent to Tucson television station KOLD; the station has not released details while federal authorities review the communication.
Law enforcement officials are reviewing multiple tips and reports that several media outlets received alleged ransom letters. At least one letter reportedly contained monetary demands and referenced deadlines, but authorities have not confirmed the letters’ authenticity and say all information is being investigated.
Investigators have expressed growing concern about Guthrie’s health. She requires daily medication and reportedly has a pacemaker and a history of high blood pressure and other heart problems.
On-Site Activity
On Sunday around midday, multiple marked sheriff’s vehicles were seen at Guthrie’s home. Observers reported at least two individuals went to the back of the residence for more than 20 minutes before leaving without comment. Authorities continue to ask anyone with information to contact investigators.
Note: This is an active investigation. Officials have urged the public not to speculate and to share only verified information with law enforcement.
