Detransitioner Chloe Cole Says $2M Verdict Is A Start But 'Not Nearly Enough' — Predicts Wave Of Lawsuits

Detransitioner Chloe Cole told Fox News that a New York jury's $2 million malpractice award to a woman who detransitioned is a meaningful legal milestone but falls short of full justice. The jury granted $1.6 million for pain and suffering and $400,000 for future medical expenses after a double mastectomy was performed at age 16. Cole said the verdict could strengthen roughly 28 related lawsuits and predicted many more claims as long-term harms become apparent. She also criticized clinicians and policymakers she described as ideologically and financially motivated.

Detransitioner influencer Chloe Cole appeared on Fox News on Monday to react to a landmark medical malpractice verdict in New York. The jury awarded $2 million to a woman who later detransitioned after suing her former surgeon and a psychologist over a double mastectomy performed when she was 16.

The plaintiff, Fox Varian, was awarded $1.6 million for past and future pain and suffering and an additional $400,000 to cover expected future medical costs. The verdict has drawn attention from detransition advocates and legal observers alike.

"Frankly, I think that $2 million is not nearly enough to compensate for the damages that these doctors have done to my generation," Cole told Fox News host Jacqui Heinrich on America's Newsroom. "I think that would only be right if every single doctor and clinic involved in this has their wallets completely drained, and they’re all thrown in prison with the keys thrown out."

Cole said the New York ruling could help a cluster of related cases and encouraged more legal action. She noted there are roughly 28 related cases — including her own — and argued that many more lawsuits could follow as detransitioners live with long-term consequences of medical transition treatments.

Courts across the country are embroiled in the legal ramifications of transgender ideology, particularly when it applies to the best welfare of minors.
"There are going to be potentially hundreds, if not thousands, across the world of detransitioners who had been mutilated and have been castrated at very young ages," she said, emphasizing the irreversible nature of some surgical and hormonal interventions and calling for full support and compensation for affected young people.

When asked about a Fox News poll showing voter preferences on transgender issues, Cole said the results were unsurprising. She characterized the push for pediatric transition care as driven by ideology and, in some cases, financial incentives rather than science, and said some clinicians convinced parents that withholding treatment would lead to self-harm.

While Cole's comments reflect the strong convictions of many detransition advocates, the malpractice ruling itself is a single jury decision that may influence, but does not determine, outcomes in other jurisdictions. The case highlights the growing legal scrutiny of pediatric gender-related care and is likely to fuel debates about medical standards, informed consent, and long-term follow-up for young patients.
