Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-Fla.) says he was assaulted Friday night while attending the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. Frost posted on X that a man approached him, declared "Trump was going to deport me," and then punched him in the face.

Frost said witnesses heard the suspect shouting racist remarks as he fled the scene while intoxicated. The congressman added that he was not physically injured and thanked venue security and the Park City Police Department for their response.

Reactions and Response
House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries called the attack "horrifying," expressed relief that Frost is okay, and urged that the perpetrator be "aggressively prosecuted." Jeffries said the House Democratic Caucus stands with Frost and emphasized that hate and political violence have no place in the United States.
The Sundance Film Festival is held in Park City, Utah, every January.

Variety reported the incident occurred at a CAA talent party at the High West Saloon and said the suspect reportedly crashed the event. The outlet also reported that the assailant bragged in a bathroom about being "White" before striking Frost. Park City police have taken a suspect into custody, but authorities have not publicly identified the individual or released formal charges as of this report. Fox News Digital and other outlets have contacted Park City PD for comment.
Frost, 29, was first elected to represent Florida's 10th Congressional District in 2022. Officials are continuing to investigate the incident.
