The Powerball jackpot rose to an estimated $1.1 billion after no jackpot winner in Saturday’s drawing, making it the second-largest prize this year and the 12th to exceed $1 billion in five years. The drawn numbers were 1, 28, 31, 57 and 58 (Powerball 16); five tickets won $1 million and two won $2 million. The lump-sum cash option for the current jackpot is $503.4 million before taxes, up more than $74 million since Wednesday. Odds of hitting the jackpot are 1 in 290.2 million, and the next drawing is tonight at 10:59 p.m. ET.

Powerball’s estimated jackpot has reached $1.1 billion after no ticket matched all numbers in Saturday night’s drawing, marking the second-largest prize this year and the 12th jackpot to top $1 billion in the past five years.

Drawing Results and Secondary Prizes

The winning numbers were 1, 28, 31, 57, 58 with a Powerball of 16. While there was no jackpot winner, Powerball officials reported five tickets that won $1 million each and two tickets that won $2 million.

Lump Sum vs. Annuity

The advertised annuitized jackpot total differs from the cash lump-sum amount. For this drawing the lump-sum cash option is $503.4 million before taxes — up more than $74 million since Wednesday. The annuitized total represents 30 increasing annual payments paid over 29 years, reflecting expected investment returns; that larger annuitized figure is commonly used in advertising.

Earlier this year in September, the largest Powerball prize was a $1.787 billion annuitized jackpot. Two winners from Missouri and Texas split the prize and opted for the lump-sum payout of about $410 million each before taxes.

Odds and Next Drawing

The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot remain long: 1 in 290.2 million. The next drawing is scheduled for tonight at 10:59 p.m. ET.

Note: All cash amounts referenced are before taxes. Winners often face federal and state tax withholdings and may choose between the lump-sum payout and the annuity option.
