Graphic Violent Posters Found Near UW–Madison Campus Prompt Police Probe

Students and campus reporters documented several graphic posters and stickers near the University of Wisconsin–Madison, including violent depictions of an ICE agent shot in the head and images of people in KKK hoods with bloody injuries. The materials featured slogans such as "Speak their language" and "The only good fascist is a dead fascist." UW–Madison police are investigating and university officials condemned the imagery, urging students to report stickers to UWPD and to access campus support services.

Multiple graphic posters and stickers depicting violent imagery were discovered near the University of Wisconsin–Madison campus late last week, mirroring a series of similar displays that have appeared on and around campus over recent weeks, students reported.

Student journalist Aiden Wirth photographed one image bearing the phrase "The only good fascist is a dead fascist." Ben Rothove, editor-in-chief of an independent student outlet, also documented several of the displays. The images included graphic depictions of an ICE agent with a bullet wound to the head and violent scenes showing figures in Ku Klux Klan hoods with bloodied injuries. Several carried the captions "Speak their language" and "The only good fascist is a dead fascist."

One poster affixed to a bicycle road sign showed a fist striking a bloodied pig. Another depicted a fist holding a smoking pistol to the head of a KKK-hooded figure, with blood spurting from the wound. In other instances, similar imagery and slogans were displayed together, escalating concern among students and campus observers.

Investigation and campus response

University of Wisconsin–Madison police confirmed they are investigating the incidents. Campus officials have said they condemn violence of all kinds and reiterated that threats or imagery that suggest violence will be taken seriously and reviewed.

"UW–Madison condemns violence of all kinds," said university spokesperson John Lucas. He encouraged students in need of support to contact the Office of Student Assistance and Support and urged anyone who finds stickers or posters on campus to report them to UWPD for removal and investigation.

Local authorities were contacted for comment. The university continues to monitor the situation and has advised students to report suspicious materials and to seek available support resources.
