Wilmington, Ohio — Wilmington College Announces New Agriscience Complex
Wilmington College has purchased the former BrightFarms site — a 120,000-square-foot commercial greenhouse plus 20 acres adjacent to the college's academic farm — and plans to convert it into a new Wilmington College Agriscience Complex.
The facility, located fewer than three miles from the main campus, will bring crop science, animal science, agribusiness and food systems programs together under one roof. College leaders say the complex will support hands-on instruction, applied research and deeper community engagement in regional food and sustainability issues.
The facility will serve as a hub for hands-on learning, applied research and community engagement.
When completed, the complex will include classrooms, renovated laboratories and an upgraded greenhouse infrastructure designed to support advanced agricultural research, teaching crops and controlled-environment production. Programs housed there will range from livestock production and pre-veterinary studies to meat science, agribusiness and food-systems work.
It reflects our commitment to preparing students not just to work in agriculture, but to shape its future — whether they grew up on a farm or are encountering agriculture through our courses for the first time.
College officials say repurposing work will begin as soon as possible, with the goal of welcoming students to the complex as early as fall 2026. The project underscores Wilmington College's investment in experiential learning and regional agricultural innovation.
