The Defense Ministry's Families, Commemoration and Heritage Department published updated figures on Sunday reporting that 1,318 members of Israel's security services have been killed since the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war on October 7, 2023.
The tally covers personnel from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Israel Police, Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency), Fire and Rescue Services, security coordinators and local response team members. The losses are recorded across all fronts of the conflict, including the Gaza Strip, Lebanon and the West Bank.
Key Figures
Officials say more than 7,150 relatives have been formally recognized as bereaved since the fighting began. That group includes 2,143 bereaved parents, 355 widows and 880 orphans. In addition, 3,772 people have been recorded as having lost a sibling in the war.

Ceasefire and Ongoing Incidents
Although a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip reportedly took effect on October 10, 2025, the Defense Ministry noted that fatalities have continued in incidents along the Yellow Line, the buffer zone within the strip.
Recent Fatal Incident
Last week two IDF reservist soldiers died after a drone they were operating landed and detonated inside their military outpost in northern Gaza. The soldiers were initially evacuated to Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon but were later pronounced dead. The fallen were identified as Maj. (Res.) Nadav Kali, 24, from Har Halutz, and Maj. (Res.) Ofek Moalem, 23, from Jerusalem.
