On the morning of September 15, a routine traffic stop for a stolen license plate in Hollywood Park, Texas, spiraled into a major mail-theft investigation. Officers detained 37-year-old Sean Christopher Martinez and 33-year-old Skylar Cheri Carter after discovering nearly 400 pieces of stolen mail and parcels in their vehicle, the Hollywood Park Police Department said.
What officers found: A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered hundreds of letters and packages plus burglary tools, narcotics, counterfeit postal master keys, vehicle diagnostic devices commonly used for theft, and a loaded firearm. Searches of Martinez's residence and a hotel room linked to the couple turned up additional stolen mail — including checks, identity documents and roughly 40 credit cards — along with an AR-15–style rifle, a "ghost" handgun kit, equipment used to forge IDs, more counterfeit postal box keys and additional quantities of methamphetamine.
Photographs released by police show the scale of the alleged operation: four firearms with ammunition, stacks of mail addressed to dozens of different recipients, about 40 credit cards, and numerous identity documents. Because of the volume of evidence, detectives say they are still cataloguing items and working to identify every affected victim.

Both Martinez and Carter were booked into the Bexar County Detention Center and face multiple felony charges, including mail theft, fraudulent use or possession of identifying information, unlawful conduct involving mail receptacle keys or locks, drug possession, and felon in possession of a firearm. Public court records cited by police indicate Carter has prior arrest connections to 15 offenses and Martinez to 24 offenses.
The Hollywood Park Police Department said it has coordinated with other law enforcement agencies — including local police partners, the United States Postal Inspection Service and the U.S. Secret Service South Texas Cyber Fraud Task Force — to process stolen credit cards, checks and identity documents. Investigators will notify victims directly as items are catalogued and processed; they warned they cannot confirm over the phone whether a specific person, address or piece of mail is involved.
