Tom Tiffany Hospitalized After Emergency Water Landing On Lake Wausau
(NewsNation) — U.S. Rep. Tom Tiffany, the Republican candidate for Wisconsin governor, was taken to a hospital with minor injuries after the single-engine Beechcraft Bonanza he was traveling in lost power and made an emergency water landing on Lake Wausau late Sunday.
Tiffany said he was returning from a Republican fundraising dinner about 200 miles from his home in Minocqua when the pilot performed the emergency water landing as the aircraft approached Wausau Downtown Airport. As the plane began to sink, Tiffany and the pilot swam to a shallower part of the lake and waited there while emergency responders arrived by boat.
Both Tiffany and the pilot were treated at a hospital for minor injuries. No further details about their conditions were immediately released.
"An experience like this reminds you just how precious life is," Tiffany wrote.
Tiffany is running for governor and will face Democrat David Crowley in the November general election. He has been endorsed by former President Donald Trump.
