Russian forces carried out multiple strikes on Ukrainian cities on Sunday, killing at least two people in Kramatorsk and injuring dozens across Kramatorsk and Odesa, officials said.
Regional prosecutors reported that the initial strike in Kramatorsk hit a small car, and later the city was struck by four aerial bombs. At least two people were killed and another 10 residents were wounded in the attacks. Authorities noted that the city has been repeatedly targeted as the front line sits barely more than 12 kilometres away; only days earlier, 19 people were reported injured in another strike.
Investigations Under Way
The Kramatorsk public prosecutor's office said it has opened pre-trial investigations into possible war crimes related to the attack. Prosecutors are collecting evidence and assessing whether the strikes violated international humanitarian law.
Odesa Attacks
In the port city of Odesa and surrounding districts, officials reported at least 24 people were injured during a day of strikes. Multistorey residential buildings and several warehouses suffered damage, according to regional authorities.
Moscow's Account: The Russian Defence Ministry acknowledged strikes on Odesa, saying a drone-production facility and a storage site for missiles and artillery belonging to Ukrainian forces were hit. Those claims could not be independently verified.
Ukraine has been defending itself for more than four and a half years since the full-scale Russian invasion began.
