New Poll: Latino Voters In Key Battleground States Turn Sharply Against Trump Ahead Of Midterms

A new Somos Votantes/Global Strategy Group survey finds Latino voters in eight pivotal battleground states moving decisively away from President Donald Trump ahead of the November midterms.
Key Findings
The poll of 1,600 Latino voters across Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Texas and Wisconsin, released Monday, shows Trump at record lows with this electorate. His personal favorability among those surveyed registers at a net -24 points; job approval is at net -26, and assessments of his handling of the economy are at net -30.
About two-thirds of respondents said the cost of living rose “a lot” over the past year and named prices as their top concern heading into November. Some 80% reported costs were rising “overall” in their state, and nearly three-quarters placed the blame on politicians in power rather than corporations.

Most respondents also linked rising costs to the administration’s military action in Iran — an action that many survey participants said was taken without congressional approval — and identified it as a major factor influencing prices.
“Latino voters are connecting policy decisions made by this administration to their continuing economic hardships, with the blame landing harder on Republicans than Democrats,” said Rosa Mendoza, vice president at Global Strategy Group.
The survey indicates Trump’s unpopularity is weighing down broader Republican standing: Latino views of the GOP overall fell to a net -23 across the states polled, with respondents citing tariffs, new military conflicts and tax cuts for the wealthy among pressures on household finances.
“From groceries to gas to healthcare, the economic pressures Latino families are having to navigate every day are showing up clearly in how they view current policy,” said Melissa Morales, founder of Somos Votantes. “And for the fifth consecutive quarter, Republicans and Trump are bearing the brunt of that scrutiny.”

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Wider Trends
The poll follows Trump’s near-historic performance with Latino voters in the 2024 election — nearly 48% of the Latino vote, according to Pew Research Center — and suggests that support has since softened. The shift is not limited to Latinos: CNN data analyst Harry Enten reported a decline in Trump’s support among non-college-educated white voters, from +32 points in February to -2 points now, with the economy again cited as the primary driver.
With cost-of-living concerns dominating voter priorities in these battleground states, the survey underscores economic issues as a potential deciding factor in the midterms.
