Fox News senior White House correspondent Peter Doocy and Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear (D) exchanged a lighthearted on-air wager during Beshear’s appearance on The Sunday Briefing.
Holding a crisp one-dollar bill upside down for the camera, Doocy told Beshear, “I will bet you the ‘Andy Beshear for President’ announcement comes in January 2027.” Beshear laughed and said, “it’s a dollar!” Doocy handed over the bill, and the two traded playful banter before wrapping the segment. Doocy asked Beshear to return to the show if and when he announces; Beshear replied he would be happy to come back "if we ever get to that point."

The interview was scheduled for the program’s usual 11:00 a.m. ET slot but was delayed when Fox News cut in to cover an armed man who attempted to enter Mar-a-Lago. Secret Service officers shot and killed the suspect after he allegedly pointed a firearm at officers. Authorities later identified the assailant as Austin Tucker Martin, 21.
Shortly afterward, Scott Bessent appeared on Fox News and criticized Democrats for what he said amounted to “normalizing” violence against former President Donald Trump—remarks that added to the charged on-air coverage. Around the same time, CNN aired an interview with California Governor Gavin Newsom, another potential Democratic contender for 2028.
Fox News posted a clip of the friendly wager to its social channels, and the exchange was shared on X.
