China Condemns Deadly Islamabad Mosque Attack, Pledges Support to Pakistan

China condemned a deadly attack on a Shi'ite mosque in Islamabad and vowed support for Pakistan's efforts to "maintain national security and stability." The foreign ministry said it was "deeply shocked" by the assault. Officials reported an attacker fired at mosque gates and then detonated a suicide bomb, killing at least 31 people in the deadliest such strike in Islamabad in over a decade.

China on Sunday strongly condemned a deadly attack on a Shi'ite mosque in Islamabad and pledged support for Pakistan's government as it works to "maintain national security and stability," the Chinese foreign ministry said.

The ministry said it was "deeply shocked" by the assault and expressed condolences to the victims and their families.

According to officials, an assailant opened fire at the mosque gates before detonating a suicide bomb, killing at least 31 people. Authorities described the strike as the deadliest attack of its kind in Islamabad in more than a decade. Investigations and security operations were reported to be ongoing.

China's statement said Beijing stands ready to assist Pakistan in efforts to restore stability and protect civilians, while urging calm and cooperation with local authorities as they pursue those responsible.

Foreign Ministry: "We are deeply shocked by the attack and pledge support to Pakistan's efforts to maintain national security and stability."
