Woman in Her 20s Shot Multiple Times in Peckham Home While 1‑Year‑Old Present — Suspects At Large

A woman in her 20s is recovering in hospital after being shot multiple times inside her Peckham home on Christmas Eve while her 1‑year‑old child was present, police said.
Metropolitan Police officers and paramedics from the London Ambulance Service responded to reports of gunfire at a property in Peckham at about 10:50 p.m. on Dec. 24, 2025, according to a police press release. First responders found the woman with multiple gunshot wounds; she was taken to hospital in a potentially life‑threatening condition and spent Christmas in a critical care unit. Police said she remained hospitalized as of Jan. 10.
Officials confirmed the victim's 1‑year‑old child was in the home at the time of the attack but was uninjured.
Investigators say two men approached the front door of the house and shortly afterward fired through the door. Police believe seven shots were fired in total. The suspects fled on foot, running from Cronin Street toward Commercial Way.
Both men were described as wearing hooded tops and dark clothing. One was wearing a gray hooded top and is believed to have been carrying a firearm; the other wore a dark‑coloured hooded top.
"This was a shocking act of violence, carried out at a family home where a young child was present. It is vital we identify those responsible and ensure justice for the victim," Detective Inspector Jordan Gardner said. He urged anyone with information to come forward, saying even small details could help the investigation.
Police have asked anyone who was in the area of Cronin Street, Commercial Way or Moody Road between 9:45 p.m. and 11:45 p.m. on Christmas Eve to contact the Metropolitan Police. Officers specifically requested doorbell, CCTV or dash‑cam footage that may show the suspects or their movements before or after the shooting. The investigation remains ongoing and the two suspects are still at large.
