Calvin Curtis Johnson, 36, was arrested after authorities say he stole a BMW from Bicentennial Park in Ormond Beach, Fla., and crashed it minutes later on a nearby highway. Bodycam footage shows a bloodied, disoriented Johnson repeatedly denying he took the car and telling officers he had been "teleported" into the vehicle and that they "saved [him] from the aliens." He was taken to a hospital, then to the Volusia County Branch Jail, and faces charges of grand theft of a motor vehicle and driving with a suspended license.

Calvin Curtis Johnson, 36, was arrested after authorities say he took a BMW from Bicentennial Park near Ormond Beach, Florida, and crashed it minutes later on a nearby highway.

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office says the convertible's owner had left the vehicle unlocked and the keys in a closed cupholder while walking his dog. Deputies report the car was taken during that brief interval and was involved in a crash shortly afterward.

Body-worn camera footage released by the sheriff’s office shows a bloodied and disoriented Johnson at the scene. In the video he repeatedly denies stealing the car and offers unusual explanations to officers. As deputies approach, he is heard saying:

"I don't know, I teleported or something."

At other points in the footage, Johnson tells officers, "I don't know how I got here," and later says, "You saved me from the aliens." Much of the clip captures him speaking incoherently and appearing distressed.

Johnson was transported to a local hospital for treatment and then transferred to the Volusia County Branch Jail. He faces charges of grand theft of a motor vehicle and driving with a suspended license and is scheduled to be arraigned over the coming weekend, officials said.

Note: These are allegations and the reporting is based on the sheriff’s office statement and released bodycam footage. Johnson is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
