A Beechcraft 55 made an emergency landing into southbound I-95 near Orlando at about 5:45 p.m. on Dec. 8 and struck a 2023 Toyota Camry. The two men aboard the aircraft — both 27 — were uninjured; the Camry's 57-year-old driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital. The FAA will lead the aviation investigation while the Florida Highway Patrol probes the vehicle crash. Earlier that day, a Cessna 172 also made an emergency landing in DeLand and two people were treated after being transported to hospital.
Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing On I-95 Near Orlando, Strikes Car; One Hospitalized

A small Beechcraft 55 made an emergency landing on the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 near Orlando on Monday, Dec. 8, and collided with a car, authorities and local outlets reported. One person was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
What Happened
The incident occurred at about 5:45 p.m. when the multi-engine Beechcraft 55 descended into traffic near the 201 mile marker and struck a 2023 Toyota Camry, according to Fox 13 News, Click Orlando and WESH, which cited the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) and Brevard County Fire Rescue.
Two men were on board the aircraft — a 27-year-old pilot and a 27-year-old passenger — and neither reportedly sustained injuries. The Camry was driven by a 57-year-old woman who was transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries, local outlets said.
Eyewitness account: Bystander William Baith told Fox 13 News he saw a single-engine plane flying “extremely low,” estimating it was “maybe 100 feet off the ground,” and realized something was wrong before the landing.
Damage, Response and Road Closures
Photographs obtained by local outlets showed the small aircraft resting across multiple lanes with visible nose damage and a Toyota Camry with heavy rear and side damage. First responders from Brevard County Fire Rescue and FHP secured the scene and provided medical care.
Authorities closed a portion of southbound I-95 near the 201 mile marker while crews cleared wreckage and investigated. Local reports said the roadway was cleared several hours later.
Investigations
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will lead the investigation into the aviation aspects of the emergency landing. The Florida Highway Patrol will investigate the vehicle collision. Neither agency immediately released details on what caused the aircraft to descend onto the interstate.
Related Incident Same Day
Earlier on Dec. 8, a Cessna 172 made an emergency landing on Jacobs Road in DeLand, roughly 46 miles from Orlando. Two people aboard that aircraft were conscious after the landing and were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, outlets reported.
Officials continue to investigate both incidents and have not released further information. Updates will be provided as agencies release findings.
