A 37-year-old Missouri man, Jacquan Wilson, was arrested in late September after his girlfriend says she escaped alleged physical abuse and sex trafficking by using ChatGPT to draft a fake rental-car email. Between Sept. 23 and Sept. 26, the woman alleges repeated beatings, threats — including threats to harm her 1-year-old during a FaceTime call — and coercion to have sex with clients. She fled to a Hertz facility at Kansas City Airport; investigators observed bruises consistent with her account. Wilson faces multiple charges and has pleaded not guilty.

A Missouri man was arrested in late September on multiple charges, including sex trafficking, after his girlfriend says she escaped weeks of alleged abuse by using ChatGPT to craft a fake email that helped her flee, according to a probable cause affidavit obtained by PEOPLE.

The affidavit says 37-year-old Jacquan Wilson was taken into custody one day after the woman escaped to Kansas City Airport. The woman — whose age is not listed in court records — told investigators she met Wilson on Facebook a few months earlier and that the two entered a romantic relationship.

Alleged Abuse and Coercion

According to the affidavit, Wilson, who works as an escort and is involved in an escort business, forced the woman to have sex with clients several times a day. The woman alleges that between Sept. 23 and Sept. 26 — the day she escaped — Wilson repeatedly beat her, including punching her, striking her face and kicking her in the ribs, and made statements that caused emotional pain.

“You need to put your son to bed so he doesn't witness what I'm going to do to you,”

The affidavit says that on Sept. 23 Wilson became angry when the woman did not hug him upon returning to their hotel and allegedly made the above threat. On another occasion, when she was about 12 minutes late to meet a client, Wilson reportedly called her on FaceTime, threatened to "chop off [her] fingers," brandished a knife and threatened to harm her 1-year-old son.

Escape Using ChatGPT

Authorities say the woman was ultimately able to escape on Sept. 26 after using ChatGPT to draft a fake email claiming she needed to return and replace a rental car. She packed her belongings, went to a Hertz rental facility at Kansas City Airport, and met law enforcement and family members there. Investigators noted multiple bruises consistent with the type of abuse she described.

Wilson was arrested the following day and booked into Platte County Jail. Online court records list charges including trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation, promoting prostitution, armed criminal action, domestic assault, child endangerment and unlawful use of a weapon. Wilson has pleaded not guilty.
