CVS has issued a recall for specific 0.5-fluid-ounce bottles of Clear Eyes Redness Relief Lubricant Eye Drops after supplier Medtech reported it could not confirm the sterility of those lots.
What Was Recalled
The recall applies to select 0.5 fl. oz. bottles sold at CVS pharmacies nationwide with UPC 678112254156 and CVS SKU 318160. Medtech and CVS cannot verify the sterility of the affected lots, which raises a risk that the drops could introduce bacteria or other harmful agents directly into the eye.

What Consumers Should Do

CVS posted the recall notice on September 17 and included the full list of affected lot numbers. At the time of CVS's notice the recall did not appear on the FDA's drug-recall announcement page.
This follows a July recall of certain Clear Eyes Maximum Itchy Eye Relief bottles that was also issued over sterility-assurance concerns. It has not been confirmed whether the two recalls are connected.
