At least two people were killed and seven others injured, including a 13-year-old girl, after a Russian glide bomb struck Sumy late on Friday, local officials said.

Oleh Hryhorov, head of the Sumy military administration, posted a photo of a badly damaged multi-storey residential building; the images and casualty details could not be independently verified immediately.

The strike occurred amid Russia's ongoing full-scale war against Ukraine, now in its fifth year.

At least two people were killed late on Friday after a Russian glide bomb struck the north-eastern Ukrainian city of Sumy, local officials said.

Oleh Hryhorov, head of the Sumy military administration, posted on Telegram that seven others were wounded in the strike, including a 13-year-old girl. He also shared a photograph showing a heavily damaged multi-storey residential building.

Images and casualty details could not be independently verified immediately; numbers are provisional and may change as rescue teams and local authorities continue their work.

Background

The attack comes amid Russia's full-scale war of aggression against Ukraine, which has been underway for more than four and a half years and has repeatedly affected civilian areas across the country.
